to complete the transfer of the course from South Lanarkshire Council (SLC) and South
Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture (SLLC).
This will form a series of communications as we move through the transition process.
As a recap. In our business plan that supported the transfer decision we set out that the long
term vision for Hollandbush Golf Club (SCIO) is to provide an improved golfing and social
experience for Hollandbush members and the local community. The purpose of transferring
the running of the course is to allow our members to determine the strategic direction for
future development and support community outcomes.
One of our key objectives through the transfer process is member retention and growth.
Achieving this will help us keep our membership fees competitive and support greater
community participation. At the members evening we were enthused by the support to make
this transfer a success and maintaining membership numbers alongside growing net new
members will be vital to help the charity meet its financial obligations. So this is a call to arms
for season 2026-27 for you to come on the journey with us and also spread the word to help
us grow a bigger membership base.
To help us in our planning assumptions we would be very grateful if you could email the club –
mail@hollandbushgolfclub.co.uk with your intentions for next season and any questions you
may have. If you could do that by end of October that would really help us test our business
plan assumptions and help us plan for next season. As part of the planned communications,
we will look to share the membership oTers for 2026-27, to encourage loyalty and we are
looking to be creative to attract new members, more of that to follow.
Progress since the members evening
• We are currently working hard with our legal representation (Gillespie McAndrew) to
complete the 25-year lease, our target is to complete this by end of October
• We have set up fortnightly transition meetings with SLC and SLLC to enable a smooth
transfer of the green keeping function, member services and starter function – we are
targeting Feb 1st to be running the course
• We have met material suppliers and equipment suppliers to start planning for February
1st, noting we raised £210,892 in grant funding for the equipment purchase. We believe
we have a financial oTer that meets this and the annual maintenance budgets which is
good news
• Recruitment adds were put out for the greenkeeping roles and we are pleased to report
we have 8 interviews scheduled for the head green keeper role across Oct 27th, 28th and
Nov 3rd. We are targeting to have them on board by December

Summary
The board of trustees recognise that golf is a competitive industry, and that as a charity we
have to still compete. However, being a charity lends us opportunity to go after grant funding
to help us deliver strategic programmes and community outcomes.
We mentioned at the members evening that the members will now have much more of a say
on what the priorities are and what you want from the course and club. As a board of trustees,
we recognise the hard yards that have to go in before we transfer on Feb 1st, we are focussed
on this and we remain very excited about what we can look to develop, hopefully you do too
and will come on the journey with us.
We celebrated 50 years as a club in 2004, this is a key step in getting to 100 years in 2054, we
welcome all your support and input to make this a success. Hollandbush provides a vital
community hub and one we should look to save and grow. If you would like to become more
involved or want to support/suggestions in any capacity - please get in touch via the club
email address shown above.
Finally, we have also set up a QR code that you can access for the latest information on the
transfer:
