Seniors Finish with Draw
Good Performance at a wet Tehidy Park
WCGC Seniors travelled to Tehidy GC for the season’s final match on Thursday 6th November.

With heavy showers forecast on already wet ground the course was a challenge for the visitors. The rain arrived right in cue as the first pairs teed off but surprisingly the full course was open for business. The Tehidy team had definite home advantage, with most using their mats for fairway shots while the visitors had to manage the boggy lies.

First blood fell to Tehidy but the visitors levelled in the second match with Tom Gair/Geoff Baylis bagging a 2&1 win. WCGC took the lead with a further point in match 3 (Jim Sinclair-Smith/Phil Thomas - 1Up) before Tehidy levelled in match 4.

The results went similarly in the later matches, with valuable points from David Felce/Billy Winn (2&1) and Dave Phillips/Tony Dickinson (5&3). Overall, WCGC earned a creditable 4-4 draw in tricky conditions. Well done again Team!

There was no nearest the pin due to an administrative oversight (they forgot the markers) but the hosts made up with a bottle of wine on each table, so we all won!

Seniors Captain Dennis Fryer thanked the team for their support during the season and they can look forward to a full schedule next year under the able Captain Tom!
