Course Manager Update
Greens Report as of 10/11/2025
Golf Course update November 2025

A mild and damp autumn has been beneficial and a challenge. It’s allowed for the overseeding, and recovery works to continue giving conditions favorable for seedlings, but the mild, damp and dewy conditions give turf diseases exactly what they need to develop and spread. Also, the current conditions mean that the turf is still growing, and wormy damp surfaces are never great to mow.

The team are making their best efforts at finding the balance to get areas mown with minimal mess, but occasionally we must take our chances in less favorable conditions, simply because the next opportunity could be many days away. Our usage of more pedestrian machines throughout the winter will also help and along with traffic management and ropes to help protect key areas.

Due to the extremely high disease pressure, we have been out keeping the surfaces as clear as possible. Cleaning off debris and dew sometimes multiple times per day, as this is a prime environment for development. Several spray applications are being made, and our maintenance plan will continue throughout the autumn. The aim of the sprays is to harden off the plant and give it the best chance of fighting back against any pathogens present, as well as providing nutrients for recovery and preparing the plant for next season.

The leaf drop is well and truly in full swing and it’s a frustrating time for both the team and players. We’ll continue our clearing efforts daily and appreciate everyone’s patience as we battle through.

Towards the end of the month, we will be starting some project work leveling tees on holes 6,8, and 17. This will hopefully be completed before the end of Year.

Our tree management will also be starting, lifting canopies and thinning out areas. This will be ongoing throughout the winter and for the years to come, to help improve light and airflow around the course, which will in turn benefit turf health around the course.

Thank you for your support, patience and understanding during what is a challenging time out on the golf course.

Many thanks,

Rob Lawley
