In 3rd place with 38 points was BigBird himself, Alan Crosswell, a founding member of the competition back in 2015 who promptly donated his £20 winnings straight back to the charity. In 2nd place with 40 points (82 gross) was James Bowman who was edged out of 1st place by 16-year-old Junior member Luca Devine-Rushbrooke winning his first senior competition with and impressive 41 points (75 gross). We may have to ask the engravers to use a smaller font to get his name on the brass plate that will go on the honours board.
Thanks to all who helped this year, Maggie and Marie for the raffle, especially Maggie for the wonderful first prize hamper she also donated, Howard Kellett for morning desk duties distributing the cards and Matt Bowman for entering all the scores.
Once again massive thanks to Graham Tovey aka G-Spot for supplying 8 dozen poppy logo’d golf balls which were this year used as nearest the pin prizes and raffle prizes.
There are now a group of veterans who meet on every 3rd Saturday of the month for breakfast at the club so please respect them should you be in the clubhouse at the same time and after their meeting in December it is planned to present the CEO of OpNova with the monies raised from this year’s Armistice Day competition.
Op NOVA, delivered by the Forces Employment Charity and commissioned by NHS England, provides support for veterans who are in contact with the justice system, enabling them to access the services they need.
As usual all entry fees from the competition go towards the charity as the winners’ prizes are donated by myself.
