Christmas Carols
If you would like to be a part of the choir for the Christmas Carols in the Jingle and Mingle event on 30th November, please reply to this email to let us know. Rehearsals will be held in the clubhouse at 3 pm on Tuesday 11th November and Tuesday 18th November.
Inter Services Poppy Day Remembrance Competition: Wednesday 12th November
On a lovely Autumn Day, 64 players took part in the Annual Inter Services Match. Four teams represented The British Army, The British Home Guard, The Royal Navy and The Royal Air Force. The score cards were completed in top form and there were many competent scores.
The overall Winner was **Derek Whitehead with 38 points with Gerard Cashman was Runner-up with 35 points**.
Winners of each Service were Michael Garrigan (Army), Mike Walsh (Home Guard), Richard Beresford (Navy) and Chris Barnett (RAF)
George Weir won two Nearest the Pins and Steve King succeeded with 2 nearest in 2 with Alan Rutter and Michael Garrigan completing the set. Bob Crichton thrilled himself by procuring the longest Drive on the 18th.
The team representing the RAF won the day. Hooray
The Remembrance Service was led by Alan Fitzgerald followed by a minute’s silence, the last post and a hearty rendition of the national Anthem.
The players then tusked into wonderful Sausage and mash which was super dooper.
Seniors’ Captain Bob Crichton gave out the prizes including the Woody Shield won by Richard Hedge and Trevor Till, with 45 points, back in October
There was a collection made for the Royal British Legion of over £250 which when added to individual match donations plus funds from the Senior Account meant that The Senior Gentlemen will send £500 to the Poppy Appeal.
Well done, everyone, for taking part with the super-duper flag from Oscar Wild to remind us all of the sacrifices of our military personnel.
Food Bank Collection
We are running a collection for the local food bank. If you would like to donate, please leave any dry goods on the table in the foyer outside the club office.
Suggested items include:
• Pasta
• Rice
• Cereal
• Tinned foods
• Tea and coffee
• Long-life milk
