Men’s Golfer of the Year
It’s Getting Tense!
With only three qualifying rounds to go – the Christmas Fayre Singles, Pairs and Stableford on December 13th, as well as a final allocation from The Prince Arthur of Connaught – the race to win the prestigious Order of Merit award is tantalisingly close. The quietly competitive Mark Stocker, currently on 27 points, leads our Pilates Champion Elliot Lake by a mere 2 points. Lying in wait are the in-form David Lymburn and Stephen Caplen, each on 20 points.

Every qualifying competition throughout the year gets an allocation of points. For a typical Stableford, the points awarded are 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for places 1–6. For a typical Fourball Better Ball, such as the Saturday Christmas Fayre, it’s 4, 2, 1 points for individuals in each pair placed 1–3. So, for the next three qualifying competitions there’s a maximum 15 potential points up for grabs. This brings into the mix at least 25 players at the top end of the leaderboard who could still win the title. It’s everything to play for and not the time to be heading for the Caribbean!
