Following the prolonged period of rain which has saturated the course and in conjunction with discussions with the Head Greenkeeper & the Board we are concerned that there is a high Health & Safety risk to a member using a personal buggy.

We feel there is potential for buggies to slip on the soft ground and lose traction with the risk of them toppling over. The rain is forecast to continue for the next few weeks making the course more dangerous for Personal Buggies.

It has also been noted that where buggies have skidded trying to get traction on even minor gradients the damage that has been caused will take some considerable time to recover and this could be well into the New Year.

Due to the cumulative impact of the weather, we are withdrawing the use of personal buggies with immediate effect until such time as the Head Greenkeeper designates the course as being able to safely allow their return.

We are sorry that this is short notice and appreciate that this may inconvenience some of you, but it is done with Health and Safety in mind along with the intention of maintaining the course in the best possible way over the winter months.

Personal Electric trolly’s with Winter Wheels and Pull Hand Trolly’s are not at this moment affected.
