A Christmas message
As the big day draws ever closer
I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and say a few thank yous.

I would like to start by once again thanking all of the members and club staff for the warm welcome that I have received since taking on the position in September. It is an absolute privilege to hold such a role at this golf club.

As a club we are very lucky to have so many members who give up their time, all for the benefit of us as members and our visitors. There are too many volunteers to mention by name but we have members fulfilling the following roles and I would like to thank each and every one of them for their considerable hard work and commitment.

• Directors
• Officers
• Sub-committees for Competitions and Handicaps, the Ladies, the Seniors and Junior organisers
• Team Captains and organisers
• The Ecology volunteer team
• The range ball collectors

Apologies if I have missed anyone!

Our staff and club partners, what can I say? The dedication, hard work, and passion for the club displayed by our team helps make our Club a special one. We all owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

To Michael and his team of Ian, Andy, Kevin, Dom and Reece (and summer help Zak) who work tirelessly to present us with a superbly maintained golf course. Talking of maintenance, thank you also to Nick and Dave P for their ‘handy men’ work.

To Paul, Dave H, Matt and the clubhouse team for keeping us all fed and watered. Another outstanding year of supporting the needs of the members and our visitors. As always, they were there when we needed them.

To Dave M and his team of Elliot and Sue, thank you for meeting all of our golfing needs and for those long days spent ensuring our competition scorecards were ready and waiting! Thank you also to Edward, for his endless hours coaching us all to better swings and for his dedication to the Longcliffe members of tomorrow.

And finally, the office staff of Brian for his secretarial duties and to Hannah who alongside dealing with member related matters picks up just about everything else! Both are incredibly supportive and helpful to me, thank you.

I have said it before and genuinely mean it when I say that we are lucky to have this team, I hope that they all enjoy their Christmas break.

Finally, I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas, and every success, happiness, and good health in a prosperous 2026. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at 12.00 noon on New Year’s Day to welcome in our new Captains, Dave, Sharon, Tim and Will.
