**COURSE MANAGER’S REPORT **
Good Morning. It was nice to see the members back on the course this week after a wet start to the year. The course is still very wet in places and I decided to open just the front holes Thursday which allowed over the road an extra day to dry out, I then reversed this on Friday to rest the front holes and assess the walkways and get some key work done to help dry out the course. This work involved slitting the fairways with the Sisis Maxi-slit to help remove some of the surface water sitting on the fairways. We have also opened up the greens again with small Chisel tines using the Pro-Core. The majority of the greens are in really good condition and drain well, we do however have a few greens that take a little longer to drain and hold water, these are being kept on temporary greens for the moment. I plan to look in the future (if budget allows) to install some drainage to these greens to improve them.
Also, this week we have had the Ventrac out again tackling the longer areas around the course. Some of these areas have not been cut down for a long time. My aim is to get rid of the unsightly brambles and thistles and allow the grass to grow back longer. These areas will not be kept short, but we do have to maintain them 2 or 3 times a year. During this process we have found ditches that will be cleared and this will help drain the course. The ditch that runs along 13,14,15 that we made wider and cleared is doing a great job and has helped dry the course out in that part of the course. The bunkers will remain GUR as they dry out and we will look to get them back in play next week.
Other jobs this week have included.
• Sapling party clearing gorse on 7th and saplings on 18th
• Bases of trees prepared for bark
• Low branches on trees removed (18th)
• All tee signage cleaned and tee discs cleaned and trimmed
• Tee markers cleaned and moved
• X2 holes changed on all greens
• Bins emptied and ball washers topped up
• Back of pro shop and putting greens area tidied
• Machine maintenance ongoing.
• Cut rough
The area right of 1st fairway next to the 7th green where the sapling group are working will be roped off once complete to allow the re-generation of the gorse. The area will be cleared of leaves and I have asked for all the dead gorse to be cut right back to the ground. The area will be marked as G.U.R to allow the new plant to grow and establish. Thanks once again to the volunteers who continue to do a great job.
Please help us by carrying where possible, varying your routes when walking round the course and adhering to the ropes.
Enjoy your weekend
Dave.
