Captain's Drive -In

Doncaster Golf Club marked the start of the new golfing year in fine style with the annual Captains’ Drive-In on Sunday 11th January.
It was a fantastic occasion that brought together members, past captains and guests for an afternoon of celebration, camaraderie and generosity.
The spotlight was firmly on the first tee as the new Club Captain, Tony Hobbs, Lady Captain Vanessa Woodward, and Junior Captain Ted Seddon each struck excellent opening drives to officially launch their year in office. Their confident shots were warmly applauded by the assembled crowd and set the tone for a memorable day.
In total, 123 guests, including Past Captains, the new Vice-Captains and Club members, joined the Captains for what proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Following the drive-in, everyone gathered to enjoy a delicious meal, with sincere thanks extended to the club’s catering team for their outstanding work and hospitality.
A special mention goes to the winners of the traditional competitions for the dot-the-drive and the guess-the-length-of-the-captain’s-speech. In a generous gesture, both winners kindly donated their prizes to the Captains’ chosen charities for the year: Firefly and the Royal British Legion—two extremely worthwhile causes that the club is proud to support.
The celebrations continued well into the afternoon, with drinks flowing and plenty of good conversation, laughter and shared stories, reflecting the strong spirit and friendliness of Doncaster Golf Club.
All in all, it was a fabulous day and a perfect start to the year. Best wishes go to Tony, Vanessa and Ted for a successful, enjoyable and memorable year ahead as Captains of the club.
