Yesterday we recorded 28mm of rainfall which, across our 97-acre site, equates to just under 11 million litres of water, or approximately 11,000 cubic metres.
To put this into perspective, in 2025 (despite the exceptionally dry spring and summer) we applied 10,000 cubic metres of water through our irrigation system across the entire year. Admittedly, the irrigation system covers only the greens and (previously) 13 of our tees, but even in a record year of water usage, we distributed less water in 12 months than we received in a single 24-hour period.
As a result, the course was closed today. I’m pleased to report that our pumps and drainage systems are functioning very well; however, the sheer volume of water means we will not be able to move enough of it in time to reopen tomorrow.
We are hopeful of returning to the 12-hole course on Saturday, and a further update will be provided tomorrow afternoon.
