SKEGNESS CUP AGAINST SEACROFT
North Shore will play Seacroft home and away in a ‘Ryder Cup’ style match for the Skegness Cup this season, a brand new competition which is hoped will be an annual event.
The format will be three singles, three foursomes and three fourballs in the 15 players a side match.
The first leg is at Seacroft on Sunday April 12, while we will host the return leg on Saturday May 16.
Who will have this year’s bragging rights?
KNOCKOUTS ARE CHANGING
The Silver Challenge will be stand-alone knockout competition, rather than qualifying through a Medal. Entry will be into the pro-shop from the start of April and the draw will be later that month. Exact details to follow. The draw will be on Facebook Live and the first round matches will be played by the end of May. Second round by the end of June, third round by end of July etc.
The Royal Arthur has also been changed to a Summer Pairs knockout, the first such event for many years. Like the Silver Challenge, the event will close in April and first round matches will have to be played by end of May and so on.
MONTHLY MEDALS WILL REVERT TO ONE DAY ONLY.
After a recent committee meeting it was decided that Monthly Medals will be staged on Saturdays only from the start of April.
COMPETITION ENTRY FEES RISE
Entry fees for competitions at North Shore have not risen for many years (at least 15) and to ensure prize winners have a decent pot from which they can buy a decent prize with their ‘winnings’, the fees will now be £5 to enter with an optional £1 for twos. Up from £4 + £1.
FIFTH GREEN
The work clearing the trees surrounding the fifth green was done only following a risk assessment which insisted on their removal within three months. An original bunker is to be reinstated at the back of the green and the banks will eventually be covered with long links grass.
SENIOR SECTION
The Seniors want to bolster their teams for home and away matches against other clubs this summer. Therefore anyone over 55 can put their names forward to play in these matches without having to join the section.
