Ian Pettie Gavel Men's Competition - Saturday 21st March
Further to the recent communication regarding the Men’s Dinner and Summer Fourball Auction, we wanted to provide a short update regarding the golf competition taking place the following morning.
At present we have over 60 members attending the dinner on Friday evening, however entries for the Fourball Better Ball competition on Saturday morning are currently lower than we would have hoped. As members will know, this year’s competition will be played for the first time as The Ian Pettie Gavel, in memory of former Club President, Captain and long-standing member Ian Pettie.
Ian’s family have very kindly donated the trophy and will be joining us on the Saturday to present it following the golf. With this in mind, we are keen to ensure there is a strong turnout on the day to mark the occasion and show our support to Ian’s family.
For this year only, the Golf Committee has therefore agreed to open the competition to all male members, including those who may not be attending the dinner on the Friday evening.
If you are not currently attending the dinner but would like to play in the competition on Saturday morning (9:00am shotgun start), please reply to this email to register your interest. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
A random draw for the pairings will still take place during the dinner on Friday evening, as is tradition.
We hope that as many members as possible will take the opportunity to play and help make the first staging of The Ian Pettie Gavel a fitting occasion.
P.S - we still have places to attend the dinner the night before as well. The table plan is up on the notice board outside the office. Please add your name if you would like to attend.
