March Competition results
Season well under way with great entry numbers
Chaps,

Season well under way now with a few qualifying competitions in early on. This is what we want as the season starts as many played as possible is the plan. A few comps in March to report on.

Railway trophy. The first qualifying comp of the season and with great numbers too. A lower scoring average, probably reflected by the play as it lies coming back into play in bunkers and rough. Taking victory and the only player to play to his handicap, our resident geezer, Graham Smalley. Well, played mate. Winning Div 2 with 33pts is a man known to many as ‘the rucksack’ Mr John Aspinall. Full prizes & podium below.

Graham Smalley 36 £70.00
Lee Statham 35 £40.00
Peter Curtis-Brown 35 £25.00

Evil scramble. A tough competition played early in the season off the back pegs with no run, always used to suit the lower big hitters. With WHS new handicap allocation this seems to have changed things now. Winning with a very low nett 53 is K. Brookfield / A. Findlow / S. Brookfield / L. Hodgkinson. Well in lads, very good score. Full podium and prizes below.

Each
1st nett 52 - K. Brookfield / A. Findlow / S. Brookfield / L. Hodgkinson £40.00
2nd nett 56 (cpo) - J. Mullarkey / S. Murfin / P. Nicholson / M. Stevenson £30.00
3rd nett 56 - A. Hunter / S. Harvey / L. Bailey / J. Witt £20.00

Weston trophy, another stableford again with 92 players booking in. We had a couple of no shows. Going forward the rules regarding a no show have now changed. The ban is still 2 competitions, but these will now be any competition at a weekend. This includes team, pairs etc. It does NOT included mid-week Stablefords anymore. A reminder that booking for a competition closes on Friday 2200hrs. If you for whatever reason cannot make your tee time. You must let the competition secretary know and if possible, you’re playing partners. As competitions are very full now and with more new members joining, no show for a competition will not be taken lightly.
Taking the win with a great score of 41pts, especially in the conditions after around 11am. The man known as Baby Geoff, Mr Stu Harvey. Great knock that mate.
Winning Div 2 with 3 under his handicap is new member Josh Sutton. Welcome to the winner’s circle mate. Great score too.
Little mention to Shamoo for scooping 3 two’s, well in Eggman.

So, the draws for the summer knock outs are now complete and you should have received your match notifications by email. The draw can also be found within the new HDID app. Open the app, click golf at the bottom, scroll down and you will see the knockouts. Please please get your matches sorted as quick as possible and I know the rules say the top named player is to offer dates. I urge all players to make contact asap. If people need contact numbers etc please get in touch.

Sunday sees our first medal of the season and off the summer 148 tees. Surely a good test of golf.

As with anything, if anyone has any issues please get in touch.

Cheers
