Penny, Steve and Ian all passed the test with flying colours: straight, confident drives with no spectators hit and nothing to share on You Tube.
A fantastic turnout then saw 39 players (13 teams) compete over a 9-hole scramble in quite testing windy conditions that improved as the morning went on and the sun made an appearance. It was wonderful to see so many guests and a team from the junior section of the club playing: with all teams proving pretty competitive and the final scores a close-run thing. Thank you to everyone for making the whole event really vibrant and Karen Sauvage for being duty course marshal.
Congratulations go to the winners Ian Cox, Rob Dean and Terry White with a nett -9 under par, and the close runners-up Colin Bailey, Alex Broz and Ed Bonnell. Both pairs managed to shoot birdies in their scores. Final Scores
Shot of the day may belong to Alex Broz with a chip-in birdie which he described as probably going on to reach the Foot Golf course if it didn’t drop in the hole. This confirms that there are no pictures on the scorecard.
Huge thanks to Steve Finn for doing a lot of the organisational heavy lifting, and Penny Jackson for setting up the Captain’s Charity. The really great news is that the day raised an estimated £635 for the Oxford Children’s Hospital, a fabulous start to the year.
Massive thanks are also due to David and Julie Brimble for their generosity in guest pricing and the huge contribution this made to the total raised. A busy clubhouse and buzzing atmosphere as the teams slowly filtered in was well managed by the club staff.
The Easter Egg raffle was won by Chris Chaundy.
Finally, a reminder that Club Nights start on Thursday 23rd April and that club knockout draws will be published shortly.
