Easter Success
It has been an excellent Easter golfing period for L’Ancresse Golf Club and Captain Chris Le Tissier
Following-up on a closely fought 13-11 victory against the Royal Guernsey in the Prince Edward Cup on Easter Monday, last Saturday LGC took on our friends from St Clements CG for the Roger Chauval Shield.
The weather was chilly with a strong westerly breeze which tested all the players. L’Ancresse Captain Chris Le Tissier and Vice Captain Colin Lickley tee’d off first against Captain Rohit Ahluwalia and Vice Captain Ross Hunter. After a solid start by the Guernsey pair they made the turn 3 up and went on to win 5/4.
A match that took a twist was Geoff Orme and Mark Wilcox being 4 down and 5 to play, they made a great recovery and went on to win 1 up. L’Ancresse won the match with an emphatic 10-2 . A great day was had by all and it was particularly encouraging that new younger players from both clubs were playing in this popular fixture.
Names are now being taken for the return fixture in September at St Clements in Jersey.
