President's Medal
President's Medals 1&2
Last week marked the start of both the President’s Medals and the Men’s Section medal competitions, and what a fantastic opening it was. The return of the White tees, combined with some welcome sunshine, set the stage perfectly. Both events attracted full fields, with plenty of impressive golf on display. The opening two medals also doubled as qualifiers for the Morison Knockout, with the top 32 players securing their place in this summer’s individual match play competition.

In President’s Medal 1, Greg Waters led the way in Division 1 with an excellent gross 69 (nett 67). His round featured four birdies and just two bogeys, including four ‘3s’ in his first six holes. Filippo Amato also returned a nett 67 but had to settle for second place after losing out on countback.

Stephen Seasman claimed top spot in Division 2 with a superb nett 67, highlighted by an eagle on the 12th hole. Anthony Naisbitt followed closely with a nett 68, making the most of his course knowledge.

President’s Medal 2 saw Sam English take the honours with a nett 67, finishing strongly with three birdies in his final ten holes, including a two on the 13th. Adrian Little’s nett 68 edged past Trevor Thompson on countback, while Andrew Wolstencroft produced the standout gross score of the day with a 68, featuring five birdies and just two bogeys.

In Division 2, Peter Britland secured victory with a steady nett 71, narrowly beating Dougie Ramsbottom on countback. A strong back nine with a nett 34 proved decisive.

After two events, the Order of Merit table is already taking shape. Greg Waters leads on 350 points following two strong performances, with Adrian Little close behind on 340. With 250 points awarded for a win, the competition remains wide open.

A big thank you goes to Amato’s for their continued support in sponsoring both the Order of Merit and the Order of Merit Shootout.

Looking ahead, Saturday 2nd May brings the third medal, alongside the first qualifier for the Peace Knockout. Spaces are still available, so be sure to book in—we look forward to seeing you there.
