Supper Match - Captain v Deputy Captain
Friday 14th & Saturday 15th August 2026
Dear Member,
Following on from the great success of last year’s event, Deputy Captain Willie Finlayson and I would like to host the 2026 Captain v Dep Captain Match, with Supper on the evening of Friday 14th August and the Match being played the following morning, Saturday 15th August, with bacon rolls from 8 15 and a shotgun start at 9am.
At the Supper we’ll make an occasion of team selection and the draw and after the Match in the morning there will be a BBQ and trophy presentation. Following last year’s result I’ll be keen that my team wrestles the trophy back from Willie!
We hope you might be keen to participate. Established members are of course most welcome but we believe this is also a great opportunity for newer members to create new and lasting golfing friendships at the Burgess. Either way it’s likely that you’ll have supper and then play with members you might not necessarily know. We are also keen that participants attend both the Supper and the Match. Last year we had 18 fourball matches giving each pair the opportunity of bringing valuable points home for their team.
Costs will be £30 for supper(excl wine) and your bacon roll and coffee before golf.
The BBQ will be paid for on the day as required.
Booking is now open via the app and we would encourage Members to book straight away. Please ensure you have funds on your Members card.
