The air temperature has finally warmed up, we've had a bit of rain and the wind has dropped! It's almost perfect....
The course is looking and playing beautifully, the new (to us) hand mowers Duncan bought as an experiment for the tees has definitely paid off, all the tee boxes look better but the new tees on 13, 14 and 18 look incredible. Well done to the green staff as usual.
Our new apprentice green keeper Will is settling in well, he's already an asset to the team on the course, learning quickly and applying his passion for golf and green keeping to good effect. Will is a keen golfer, so if he's not working on the course he'll probably be playing it! Please take the time to give him a wave or say hello where possible.
Will is studying under Oaklands college, where he will become certified in Green keeping and Agronomy. This is the same course that Rob Maidment completed when he was an apprentice almost ten years ago, Rob is still with us and is now helping to mentor Will.
CHARITY EVENT
Paul Curley would like me to pass on his sincere thanks to all of you that played, donated, or contributed towards the fantastic total of £4885 raised for Prostate Cancer UK via his golf day back in April.
WINTER LEAGUE FINAL
The WL final was an incredibly close, competitive game. Jamie and Dan Walker started really fast and were 3 up after 4 holes with a birdie, two pars and an Eagle. The Horner's (Sean and Andy) gradually pegged them back to level at the turn. Two pars (one with Sean's shot) put the Horners 2 up through 11. Another Eagle from Jamie on 12 got it back to 1, a great two putt from the front edge of the 1st on 16 by Dan won the hole to bring it back to level. The Horners then missed putts on 14, 15, 16 and 17 which would have helped win the game. 17 was halved in pars and 18 was halved in bogeys so it went to extra holes. Both Andy and Sean birdied the first extra hole with the Walkers only making a par, meaning Sean and Andy Horner are our Winter League Champs for 2025/26, Well played guys!!
DRIVING RANGE
The earth moving toward the rear and sides of the range is complete, while the digger driver was here he also helped us extend the car park some more and also level some ground around the green keepers compound. The next step is adding the posts and netting around the perimeter of the whole area. Once this is complete we hope the majority of golfers will be able to hit at least a fairway wood.
The driving range app has been well received and seems to be working well. Members can still use the driving range cards if you prefer and/or buy QR codes at the reduced rate.
STARTING TIMES
Please be reminded that the first tee time mid week is 7am and 6:45am at weekends. Please adhere to these times and do not start before your allotted tee time.
DOG POO BINS - USE THEM
We love our dogs here at Millbrook. Please be reminded to keep your dog on a lead at all times (this includes the bar) and pick up after it, placing your bags in the bins provided... Don't put dog waste in the normal course bins please...
Being able to play golf with your dog and sit with them in the bar is a luxury, don't spoil this luxury for people who do adhere to the rules.
PRO SHOP
The shop is almost fully stocked for the summer ahead, just a reminder that you can't buy Motocaddy trolleys any cheaper, anywhere else. That goes for the majority of products available on the market. We've recently sold sets of wedges, sets of irons and a few drivers at a better price than our members could find elsewhere, so if you're in the market for some new kit, ask us first!!
The 4 dozen Pro V1's for the price of 3 dozen deal is ongoing!! Works out at £45 per doz. Why not go halves with a mate???
