The summer season is now in full swing and I hope you are all enjoying lots of sunny golf! Sorry I haven’t been able to join in for the last few weeks due to a very stubborn sore back. But rest assured your Committees have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure a great programme of golf and social events for 2026.
As usual, I invite you to speak with me, call me on 07800 991908 or email me at oneill@gtwiz.net if you have any queries or concerns. Janet Norton O’Neill, Lady Captain
Please check our Noticeboards, particularly the sign-up sheets for:
Friendly Matches organised by Helen Moor
Summer Eclectic (pay/sign up in Pro Shop) organised by Terry Connolly
Open Week 26 June – 4 July (spaces available except Texas Two’s on 4 July, entry Pro Shop)
Open Week Volunteers (Main Noticeboard – usually a good turnout from our Section!)
Captains’ Charity Day 12 July (sign up in Pro Shop)
Ladies’ Open Day 14th July (deadline for entry is 12th June) organiser Gill Smith
Lady Captain’s Away Day (a swap with Chestfield) 23rd July, organiser Helen Crocker
Our Club’s Social Committee have organised two social events during Open Week. The first is Sat 27 June, DRAG BINGO, which Dan Johnson (Club Vice Captain) has introduced to the Club. Bookings via Love2Cater at the Bar – it’s going to be highly entertaining!
The other event is on 4 July, following the Shotgun event and short presentation of first prizes only. A live band will strike up in the afternoon and food/drinks will be available from the Bar. It will help us work out numbers if you could pre-book as this event could be opened up to the public, but it is primarily there for our members and Open Week visitors!
Welcome to our latest new Country member Wendy Edgar Jones. More to follow soon!
Finally, we have a very important EGM coming up on 10th June. Our irrigation system is broken. Without one we will not have a golf course. Approval of the proposal will enable the Board to go ahead and arrange for the instalment of a new system. Any delay could cause such a price increase that the project may become out of reach so it is up to all of us to engage with (and hopefully support) this. If you can’t be there in person to vote, you can vote ahead of time using the methods outlined by the GM. Thankyou & happy golfing.
