In the fourth round on Sunday afternoon, Zain Wild edged John Carroll by a single shot, finishing eleven under par. His 69 in blustery conditions was capped-off with a chip-in birdie on the last hole, while John’s birdie putt on the last finished a roll short. Luke Kelly from Ashton-under-Lyne on five under and Thomas Watson from Hillside on three under were the closest competitors in the strong field.
Ben Crompton from Manchester Golf Club had a strong last day, shooting 73 and 72 to finish in 13th place. Graeme Jackson played great golf over the four rounds but a slow start on the last round resulted in him slipping to 30th place, a very respectable finish.
Lancashire Golf has sent a huge thank you to the Club for being "such and an outstanding venue" and Zain described the course in his winner's speech as "a superb championship set-up, tough in places and you have to hit it in the right spots".
Praise for the course, the set-up and the Club is credit to all Members, our hardworking team and band of volunteers. Events such as these are extremely important in helping raise the profile of the Club, which contributes greatly to membership applications and green fee revenues. However, we appreciate that each and every member helps accommodate our guests and make these important weeks possible - so thank you for your support.
