Taking advantage of good playing conditions, compared to the previous day, there was some excellent scoring in the Club's prestigious 36-hole Open event.
Josh opened up with a three under par 67 which included birdies at the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 11th and 12th with his two dropped shots coming at 13 and 17.
Sam Quail was lying second after the first round having carded a level par 70 included three birdies at 5, 10 and 14. Matthew Parkman was in third spot following a one over par 71.
In the afternoon, Matthew applied some pressure to the two players ahead of him by carding a two under par 68. This included three birdies in a row from the 3rd hole. He had dropped shots on the 6th and 14th but birdied the last.
In the afternoon, Josh carded a one-over 71, which included four birdies on the 1st, 3rd, 6th and 11th. Unfortunately, he double bogeyed the 2nd and had bogies at the 4th, 10th and 15th. However, his 71 was enough to pip Matthew by one stroke.
Sam Quail secured third place with a 69, which included birdies at the 3rd, 8th, 9th and the 18th.
Other notable scores were an afternoon 69 from Kevin Therin along with a pair of 70s from Andy Clarke and Charlie Kiberd.
