The opening round of the McBride was a close call in the front 9 but it was a strong back-nine performance that means Deirdre Taylor leads the Mcbride going into round 2 next Tuesday.
Anne Stokes and Deirdre Taylor both fired Nett 35 over the front nine to lead the field, closely tracked by Elizabeth Burns (Nett 37).
In the back nine, Deirdre carded a nett 33. While Anne carded a nett 38 and Meg Laidler shot a solid Nett 34 on the back nine to edge past Anne for 2nd place.
Well done Angela Finlay who shook off a tough front nine (Nett 50) to fire a Nett 34 on the back nine—a 16-stroke improvement!
