Caroline Evans Clinches Double Championship Success
Caroline Evans produced a superb performance over two days of championship golf to win both the Ladies Gross and Nett titles in the Club Championships held on Saturday 4 July and Sunday 5 July. Playing 18 holes on each day in the Medal Championship format (95% handicap allowance), Evans showed remarkable consistency and determination to dominate both competitions. After opening with a gross score of 89 on Saturday, she improved significantly on Sunday with an excellent 84, giving her a two-round total of 173 and securing the Ladies Gross Championship. Evans finished 20 shots clear of runner-up Annmarie Ferguson, who carded rounds of 98 and 95 for a total of 193. The weekend proved even more successful for Evans in the Nett competition. Outstanding nett rounds of 71 and 66 gave her a winning total of 137, comfortably ahead of the field and completing a memorable championship double. The battle for runner-up spot in the Nett competition was much closer, with Julie Beames claiming second place on countback after rounds of 77 and 74 for a total of 151, edging out the competition with the better back nine on Sunday’s round. Caroline’s achievement of winning both the Gross and Nett Championships is a testament to her excellent play throughout the weekend and marks one of the standout performances of the season. Congratulations to Caroline on a fantastic double success and to all competitors who took part in this year’s Ladies Championships.
