Captains charity day 4th July 2026
Captains charity day 4th July 2026
Our 2026 annual Captains charity day was blessed with fantastic weather, and 180 players enjoyed a great day. The competition was a mixture of a standard 2 from 4 stableford but with the occasional twist like playing from different tees on the 2nd and roll the dice to decide which club to use for the entirety of the 8th hole (we saw birdies with a putter and a wedge, plus attempts to get out of a bunker with a driver !!) At registration players were given the chance to buy a Trump (mulligan card) which could be used once anywhere on the course! The RNLI and Captains manned the traditional hospitality tent at the halfway house where teams were also offered the chance to win a box of balls if they got three out of 4 balls on the green - several teams made strategic use of their trump cards here to increase their chances to get 3 balls in the green! After play players were treated to a very tasty meal by the house team and from mid-afternoon some live entertainment from the Woodbury Whalers and Brock a one-man singer Final totals for the day are still being calculated, but early estimates show around £4,000 raised on the day for the RNLI charity.
