English Women's Open
Day One of the Women’s English Open, a major fixture on the LETAS Tour, produced some stunning golf in glorious Manchester sunshine. Top of the tree at the end of the day’s play, featuring 132 players from 37 countries, was the American, Katherine Schuster with a fantastic round of 64, eihjy under par. A shot behind is England Squad player, Isla McDonald O’Brien, a very promising young amateur who blazed the front nine in 30 shots. There were a number of very strong performances from a high quality field, with 44 players under par, including two on 66, England’s Billie-Jo Smith and Czech Rebublic’s Tereza Zapletal Kozeluhova. At the Club, the main and overflow carparks were full, welcoming players, caddies, volunteers, members England Golf, LETAS and spectators from across the region – creating a great atmosphere on the course, in the clubhouse and at the practice facilities. We were delighted to welcome each and everyone. The players were the stars of the show, not only playing and practicing with absolute professionalism but also engaging, smiling and enjoying the experience.
