Over the last two Saturdays, we have competed for the Captain’s Prize over 2 rounds of medal. The first weekend saw the President Nigel Mather lead with 71 net. The Captain had picked some tough pin positions but hadn’t factored in the tough wind. In round two, the pins were easier, but the sizzling temperatures were draining. There was a 3-way tie over the two rounds with Paul Crisp, Iain Brown and Karl Davies heading out for a 4 hole playoff. The lead changed hands several times over the 4 holes, but Karl Davies finished just ahead of Paul Crisp in second place and Iain Brown in 3rd place. Congratulations to Karl on his Board Prize win! In the evening the Captain host his prize giving dinner. As well as presenting Karl with his prize, the skipper presented Luke Donnelly with a belated memento commemorating his course record of 64 gross last year. During the presentations after the dinner, Vice Captain Colin Mitchell announced the nomination for the Men's Captaincy for 2028 and therefore Vice Captain for 2027. The nomination from the Past Captains is John Aikenhead. John thanked the Past Captains for the nomination and vowed to uphold the traditions of the club and he was proud and delighted to accept the nomination. The final presentation of the evening was to our Pro, Kris Andrews, to mark his 20 year service to the club. Captain Steve presented Kris with an engraved Silver Salver, kindly donated by the Seniors and Ladies Sections. The evening concluded with most people staying to watch the football. Our thanks go to the catering and bar team for the food and for keeping us hydrated. Thank you to Captain Steve McDermott for his generosity during the last couple of weeks. Captain Steve spoke of his pride in being the Captain of our great club and thanked all the members for their support during the year and during the Captain’s prize weekends.
