Dear Member,
As you will have noticed, the prolonged dry spell has left the course exceptionally dry, and the grass is now a significant fire risk.
With this in mind, we are introducing a temporary ban on smoking anywhere on the course, effective immediately. This includes cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, and applies to discarding matches or cigarette ends anywhere on the grounds. The clubhouse and its immediate surrounds remain non-smoking as usual.
Vaping is not covered by the ban, as it presents no meaningful fire risk — though we would ask vapers not to discard disposable devices on the course, as their batteries can ignite if damaged.
We will lift the ban once conditions improve and will let members know when we do. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us protect the course.
