Coming to the end of my second week in the job, I wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks to everyone who's popped in and shown support as I step into the role. It's been fantastic so far, with Stuart and the council being very helpful and patient as they show me the ropes. My standard working hours will be 8-4, Monday to Friday. Apart from occasional adjustments and holidays, I will be on hand in the office if you have any questions, or simply want to say hi.
This is the first of my "Manager's Updates", where I aim to share recent news of the club. If you ever feel like there's something you feel could be included, please pop in and see me or send an email.
NEW LADIES COURSE RECORD - A massive congratulations to our new Ladies course record holder, Laura McTeague! Playing in the July Supplementary Medal last night, Laura shot a 70, in a fantastic round that included 6 birdies. Whilst she knew she was approaching her personal best, it wasn't until she chipped in on 18, where her playing partner (and former course record holder) Alyson Scrimgeour exclaimed, "that's the course record!". Again, well done to Laura, and a congratulations to Alyson, who held the previous record of 73 since May 2025.
50% OFF CLOTHES IN CLUB SHOP - As we approach the end of the season and look for a refresh for the coming year, we have applied a 50% discount on selected clothing items. If you're looking to refresh your golfing wardrobe or pick up a bargain, please pop in to the office to look through the remaining stock!
LADIES FIXTURE - The Ladies had a Midway League fixture here at Dundas against Greenburn. It was a beautiful evening, with the Greenburn ladies being very complimentary about the course and hospitality. Unfortunately, Greenburn won the match 2 1/2 - 1 1/2, but it was a competitive fixture with Dundas losing the final game on the 18th hole.
HOLE-IN-ONE FRENZY - As previously mentioned, Murdo Morrison shocked many (including himself) by getting a hole-in-one on the 9th during the Gents July Medal, a fantastic achievement, especially as it was in a competition. They say that lightning doesn't strike twice, well that certainly wasn't the case this month as only a week later, 13-year-old Lachlan Burn followed up with another hole-in-one on the 9th! Having only just recently got into the sport, joining the club at the start of the year, I'm sure some of the older members will be quick to ensure him golf won't always be that easy...
OPENS - Spaces still remain for our August opens for Seniors (Thursday 6th), Ladies (Saturday 15th), Mixed (Sunday 23rd) and Gents (Saturday 29th). Please be sure to tell your friends and family to sign up, and book your own place whilst tee times are still available.
Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcome over the past couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to getting to know more of our members and helping to make the club the best it can be.
