Rules of Golf
The committee has decided that we should have a small rules sub committee to help educate and assist members with the rules of golf. I think we all know if you ask a group of people a rules question you will often get several different answers and many will be wrong. Google will take you to various unofficial websites, often American where their rules are different. Most of us probably know more about offside and VAR than the rules of the game we play every week. The only official source is the R&A rules which can be accessed on line or, you can now speak with our rules team who will also be aware of the additional definitions and clarifications of the rules. The objectives of the rules team are: 1. To provide members with official answers and definitions of the rules in response to any general questions or queries they may have. 2. To provide an official ruling where there is a query in official competitions to help avoid or correct any incorrect advice from other players, which could still lead to disqualification. 3. To provide an official point of contact for reporting any concerns or potential breaches of rules in competitions, these will be investigated and actioned appropriately to ensure fairness for all. 4. To increase members awareness and knowledge of the rules of golf by encouraging questions, quiz's, presentations etc. The rules team will headed by David Round, assisted by Neil Johnstone and Graham Yardley, with Colin Day advising where required. We encourage all members to discuss any queries or questions with the team who's contact details are below.
