Rules Night.
An information evening on the rules of golf will take place in the Clubhouse this Friday evening at 7.30pm. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.
Ladies Beginner Golf.
Friday 17th July was the start of the ladies introduction to golf programme 2026 here at Portsalon Golf Club. There had been an unprecedented number of ladies interested and we were delighted to see them all turning up and registering for the programme on the night. Lady Captain Frances Shannon and Madam President Mae Blaney gave welcoming and motivational speeches to open the event and also took the time to take part in mentoring the participants. Thanks goes out to all the club members who made the night a huge success, it would not have been possible without their help and team work.
Feedback from the ladies has been very positive and all of them are looking forward to the next few weeks and receiving expert tuition from a Golf Pro in August.
Team News
Cathal Canning's Donegal League squad entertained Nairn & Portnoo on Sunday afternoon in their quarter-final first leg, with Portsalon taking a 3.5 to 1.5 advantage after a hard fought contest. There were wins for Donal Callaghan Jnr & Alistair Rodger, Johnny Gallagher & Gareth McLarnon and Fergal Coll & Joe Hensey, while the opening pairing of Ryan McGettigan & Johnny Shields took a half point and the match two alliance of Stephen Connolly & Eamonn McConigley were defeated on the 18th green. It leaves everything in the balance with the second leg to come at the Glenties venue on Sunday July 26th.
Andy Boland's JB Carr team saw their Ulster run stopped at the semi-final stage in Rossmore GC in Co Monaghan on Sunday afternoon despite a gallant effort.
On Saturday, the Donegal Minor League team under Sean Barrett's guidance were beaten 3-2 in their first leg in Portsalon. They head for the Twin Towns on Saturday to try and turn things around.
