On Friday 14th August, many of our Women's Section will be braving the heat in another Golf-a-thon fundraiser, supporting the amazing Dover Pantry (the chosen charity of our Women's Captain, Sue Ellis - aka Big Bird) by donating goods and raising vital funds.
Shortly after sunrise, Sue and her merry band will head onto the course to play 3 rounds of golf before sunset. Fortunately, Sue isn't asking anyone else to play :-) but The Girls would be incredibly grateful if you could support their efforts by sponsoring their event!
What is the Dover Pantry?
The primary purpose of Dover Pantry is to reduce food poverty by providing a Social Supermarket, which can be used by families struggling to make ends meet to supplement their regular weekly shop with a variety of fresh and frozen meats and fish, vegetables and store cupboard essentials. Perfectly good surplus food otherwise headed for landfill is collected by a team of local volunteers from local supermarkets, further supplemented by donated and a small amount of bought-in goods to offer variety and choice. Put simply, The Pantry feeds those in need within the Community, whilst reducing tonnes of food waste: a win win!
Dover Pantry offers dignity and hope to those who use it, supporting them in getting back on their feet and able to feed their families.
