Friday 14th August 2026
People across England and Wales have received an Emergency Alert on their phones on Friday 14 August as the Government steps up action to protect communities from the growing threat posed by wildfires. th Do not light fires, or open flames, in the countryside or other open spaces, including parks, moorland and wooded areas. Never leave a household barbecue unattended and ensure it is fully extinguished after use. Dispose of smoking materials carefully and never throw cigarette ends from vehicles. Take litter home, particularly glass bottles which can intensify sunlight and increase fire risk. Call 999 immediately if they see signs of a fire. More Information
