A memorable day for Seniors’ Captain Mark Bates
A fantastic field of 73 members and guests gathered at The Astbury on Thursday 27th August to support Seniors’ Captain Mark Bates on his special Captain’s Away Day.
After such a prolonged period of dry weather, the much-needed rain finally arrived — and everyone certainly got a soaking! However, the weather did nothing to dampen the fun, enthusiasm and good humour of the Hawkstone Park golfers. The course was thoroughly enjoyed by all, followed by a fabulous meal and plenty of opportunity to socialise.
Mark took the opportunity to thank his generous sponsors and everyone who had donated prizes to support the event. He then conducted the raffle, which featured a wonderful Fortnum & Mason hamper among a host of other fantastic prizes.
During the presentation, Mark also presented flowers to his wife, Susan, and to Treasurer Gina, thanking them both for their invaluable support throughout his year as Seniors’ Captain.
The prizes were then presented to the day’s winners, with the overall winner being the evergreen Bob Parker, who was delighted to lift the Captain’s Shield.
A huge thank you goes to Mark for organising such a memorable day. The excellent goody bags, impressive prize table and fantastic hospitality all contributed to making it a very special occasion.
Most importantly, the day was enjoyed by everyone and also raised a substantial amount for the Captain’s Charity Fund.
Well done, Mark, and thank you for a truly enjoyable and memorable Captain’s Away Day!
