Saturday 29th August saw us return to Gailes for the ever popular Gailes Texas Scramble, 21 teams arrived for breakfast and there was a great atmosphere with 84 players being present. Captain Stuart welcomed the players before M&H gave the instructions for the day, strokeplay Texas scramble played from the white tees. The forecast had shown dark skies and breezy but as so often happens at Gailes the sky's cleared and the sun came out to give us a wonderful day for golf, the course as we have come to expect was in fantastic condition which the R&A had also commented on in the recent playing of the Boys Amateur. With the course being in such great condition and weather good scoring was expected to be low, the players did not disappoint with the majority of teams scoring in the 50's and 2 shots separating 5 teams for the prizes. Congratulations to Ian Fitzpatrick, Malcolm Laverock, Stuart Ross and Stewart Preston with a nett 54 (winning on a card count back). Vice Captain Gordon Miller thanked Jackie and the team for looking after everyone so well with another fabulous lunch, Brian and his team got mention for the course condition which was exemplary. Vote of thanks was given to Captain Stuart for overseeing the day and endorsed by the assembled players, we all look forward to returning to Gailes on 26th September for the Gailes Goblets.
