President’s Order of Merit – A Standout Summer of Golf After a fantastic summer of golf, all 12 President’s Medal Qualifiers have now been played. This year, more than 100 members managed to beat their handicap in at least one of the qualifiers, with several players achieving the feat time and time again. The President’s Order of Merit (OOM) recognises those who have shown consistent form throughout the summer, rewarding players who have regularly put together strong performances. Congratulations, Greg Mossop! A huge congratulations to Greg Mossop, who has taken a commanding victory in the President’s Order of Merit, finishing a staggering 260 points ahead of Greg Waters. Greg has enjoyed an outstanding season. Starting the year off a handicap of 3, he has continued to improve and is now playing off his lowest-ever scratch handicap. One of the highlights of his season came in President’s Medal Qualifier 8, where Greg carded an impressive gross 68 – three under par – for a nett 67, tying the lowest gross score of the entire series. A truly exceptional round. Greg Waters – A Flying Start Greg Waters also enjoyed a fantastic season, getting off to a flying start with consecutive rounds of nett 67 and nett 70 in the opening two qualifiers. He continued to show impressive consistency throughout the summer, playing to his handicap or better on two further occasions across the 12 qualifiers. His strong run of form earned him a well-deserved second place in the OOM. Adrian Little Claims Third Adrian Little rounded out the top three, sneaking into third place after a couple of strong finishes towards the end of the season. His most memorable round perhaps came after a rather eventful start! Adrian carded a gross 77 despite making two triple bogeys in his first four holes. His recovery from that difficult opening was nothing short of sensational and highlighted the determination that has seen him finish the season strongly. President’s Medal Shootout Well done to everyone who has finished in the Top 30 of the Order of Merit and qualified for the President’s Medal Shootout. They now have the chance to compete for the Amato Trophy in the ultimate winner-takes-all format. The President’s Medal Final takes place on 6 September. Members are reminded to sign up in the Gents’ Locker Room or Club Shop if they wish to take part.
