Finals Day Is Approaching!
Finals Day is fast approaching, with the last few knockout matches now reaching their exciting conclusion. The two Club Championship finals have been decided, and we have some fantastic matchups to look forward to.
Club Championship Finals
In the Men’s Club Championship, David Simpson will take on Marcus Dodds in a 36-hole battle for the title.
David has been in fantastic form on his way to his first-ever Club Championship Final, defeating Ross Hunter, Robbie Cullen and Stephen Jopson to earn his place in the final.
Standing in his way is Marcus Dodds, who has overcome Trevor Thompson, Greg Waters and Liam Short to reach his second Club Championship Final in three years. Having narrowly missed out previously, Marcus will be hoping to go one better this time and lift the trophy.
Marcus is also having an impressive run in the Peace Knockout, where he will face Colin McCluskey on Saturday 12 September.
The Ladies Club Championship will see Lady Captain Nicola Tebbutt go head-to-head with Katie Sibley. Both players have earned their place in what promises to be a fantastic final.
Both Club Championship matches are played over 36 holes, and members are more than welcome to come along, support the players and enjoy the action.
Other Finals to Watch
There are plenty of other exciting matches taking place across the knockout competitions.
In the Malcolm Jopson Cup, Vice Captain Donald Bell takes on George Douglas, who will be looking to put last year's devastating final defeat behind him and go one better this time around.
The Morrison Knockout also promises to be a thrilling contest, with Ross Hunter taking on Ben Tickle. With Ross in great form, this should be a closely fought matchup.
Over in the Summer Quaich Foursomes, current Junior Champion Owen Ridley and Ralph Hogg face Tony Threlkeld and Jonathan Richards.
Tony and Jonathan are certainly a partnership to keep an eye on after an impressive semi-final victory over the Slater Cup-winning pairing of Andrew Wolstencroft and Aaron Brannan.
Judith Going for Two!
Judith Clifford has enjoyed a fantastic summer and has qualified for two finals.
In the Ladies Foursomes, Judith and partner Lynn Jones take on Lisa Anderson Ward and Paula Dixon.
Judith will also feature in the Greensomes, where she and Stephanie Liddell face Tracey Harris Williams and Susan Cotter.
A fantastic achievement – well done, Judith!
