Seniors Scratch Final – Nigel Chesters Crowned 2026 Champion The Seniors Scratch Final was played on Tuesday 1st September on the Championship Course, with Nigel Chesters taking on Nick Roberts in what proved to be an entertaining final watched by a small group of members. Those fortunate enough to be watching were treated to some high-class golf, with both players producing some excellent shots throughout the match. Nigel made the stronger start, winning the opening two holes to establish an early 2-up lead. Nick responded in style at the 3rd, sinking an excellent birdie putt to reduce the deficit to one. Nigel restored his two-hole advantage at the 4th after hitting his approach to within three feet, while Nick was unfortunate to find himself in trouble among the trees. The 5th was halved in birdie fours before Nigel extended his lead at the 6th. Nick found water with his second shot, while Nigel safely found the green to move 3-up. Nick showed his determination once again at the 7th, reducing the deficit before the players halved both the 8th and 9th holes. The 10th was a tight hole, eventually conceded by Nick, before Nigel produced a remarkable spell of golf that ultimately decided the match. At the 11th, Nigel holed a birdie putt from more than 30 feet, before producing another exceptional shot at the 12th. From the left of the fairway, Nigel played an outstanding bunker shot to set up another birdie and further increase his advantage. He then sealed the championship at the 13th, setting up yet another birdie with a superb 70-yard wedge to bring the match to a close.
