On tour with Andy -
Feeling under the weather
ON TOUR WITH ANDY NI Legends – Galgorm Castle Golf Club After Two Rounds Andy opened the NI Legends with a two-over-par 74 in the first round. I caught up with Ella by text afterwards, and she said that Andy was not happy with how he had played. The playing conditions were also a little more difficult during that opening round. On top of everything else, Andy has been struggling with a head cold—and, like us all, he knows how much a cold can get in the way. Despite not feeling 100%, Andy produced a much better score in the second round, returning an excellent four-under-par 68. It was a bogey-free round containing four birdies, with Andy going out in 33 and coming home in 35. That moved him to two under par for the tournament and into a tie for 23rd place heading into the final round. I sent Andy a message after his round: “Played well today—solid round. You must be happy with things?” Andy replied: “Some and some. Running a temperature today—got a cold somehow, so not feeling 100%. Game was good though. Easier weather today!” That puts the performance into perspective. Although the conditions were easier than during the opening round, shooting a bogey-free 68 while running a temperature was still a very good effort. Hopefully, Andy will feel a little better for the final round and can finish the week strongly. Well played, Andy. Take care of yourself and good luck today for the final round Steve Beckham On Tour with Andy
