Team News Commiserations to Joe Hensey and the Donegal Seniors on their slender loss to Bundoran in the county final. For the third year running, the teams have come up short in the decider. On Saturday, Diarmuid Logue & Eunan McGlynn took a half point in match one, Cathal Roarty & Ciaran Kelly were winners along with Joe Hensey & Paddy Merritt, but despite a strong 2.5-point haul on the road, the dye was cast at home. That, says the team captain, is where the damage has consistently been done in recent finals and is the area that will need addressing to get the deal over the line. There appears little doubt that Captain Hensey won't be giving up just yet after another strong push this year. The annual Mary Mc Daid Cup (in memory of all deceased members of Portsalon, Letterkenny and Rosapenna Golf Clubs) took place on Saturday last (5th August) with representatives from Letterkenny, Portsalon and Rosapenna Golf Clubs participating in individual, team, club and the dreaded yellowball competitions. The day was filled with camaraderie and fun competition. Roisin Kerr (Mc Daid) representing the Mc Daid family was on hand to present the overall winning Club and individual prizes. The organizing committee of Roisin Mc Cormack, Deirdre O Toole, Noreen McConigley and Mary Barrett thanked Nikki for provision of teas/coffees in advance of teeing off and the greenkeepers for the fabulous condition of course, which was echoed by all players, the Ladies branch of the Club and Mc Daid family for their continued sponsorship of the competition. The Lady Captains from each Club thanked the organizing committee highlighted their enjoyment of the competition and their pleasure at being involved every year.
