Following on from the annual maintenance operations carried out last month; as the greens continue to recover, we have completed some further work in the last couple of weeks. Our Greens Mower units were sent away to our contractor for servicing and sharpening. On return, the cut height was set at 5.0 mm. Browntop Bent seed was applied during the maintenance period, therefore maintaining a slightly higher height of cut helps protect the seedlings as they mature. The height of cut for the other areas (tees, aprons, fairways, rough) has also been raised appropriately as we head into autumn. Last week, the putting green and 4th green were shallow spiked for aeration before all greens were given a feed with an organic granular fertiliser. This week we engaged with local Groundcare Contractor, Alan Wilkie, to over-seed the putting green, 4th and 1st greens, with his specialist Aera-Seeder machine. A light top dressing of sand was then applied to these greens. Over the next few weeks we will continue to apply aeration, top dressing as required to these greens to improve their surface.
