As we move into autumn, our main priorities will be grass recovery, improving soil condition and protecting the course against disease through the wetter months. Throughout September, October and November, the greenkeeping team will carry out a programme of regular solid tining and verti-draining across the greens, tees and collars. We will also be slitting fairways and areas of rough to help maintain air movement, improve drainage and allow moisture to move effectively through the soil profile. Our planned Autumn nutrition and fungicide programme will also continue. These applications are designed to strengthen the grass plant, create a more resilient sward and reduce the risk of disease as conditions become cooler and wetter. We will undertake scarifying and selective overseeding of fairways, collars and tees where required. This work will support recovery, encourage stronger grass coverage and help improve playing surfaces going into the winter period. Bunker Programme Work will begin on eight of the remaining bunkers as part of our ongoing bunker improvement programme. The first stages will include digging out the existing material, reshaping the bunkers and creating the required shelving. Once this preparation work has been completed, the new liner can be installed and reconstruction can begin. Course Protection As ground conditions change, ropes and course protection measures will be introduced where necessary. These are important in helping us protect vulnerable areas and minimise wear during periods of wet weather. The annual battle with leaves will also begin shortly, with regular clearing required across the course throughout the autumn. Tree Management Our planned tree management programme will continue, with further poplars and conifers scheduled for removal. This work forms part of our longer-term approach to improving airflow, light levels, turf quality and the overall presentation of the course. Winter Tee Changes The white tees will be taken out of play after 5 October 2026. The yellow and green tees will follow after 3 November 2026, at which point the course will move fully onto the orange and blue winter tees. We will always endeavour to keep disruption to golf to an absolute minimum while this work is being carried out.
