Course Update
Irrigation Update
Dear Members, The irrigation installation was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 6 October, starting with the installation of the water main serving the whole course. Unfortunately, this first phase has been delayed pending a survey into the possible presence of unexploded ordnance left over from the Second World War. We would like to reassure members that the ordnance survey is a precautionary measure. The object identified is thought more likely to be a house brick, large rock or stone than unexploded ordnance. The survey will allow its nature to be confirmed before work on the water main proceeds. To avoid further delays to the project, the contractor has revised the programme at short notice and has begun installing irrigation to the tees on the 6th, 7th and 8th holes. While this work takes place, the tees on these holes will be moved forward. The overall course length should be reduced by no more than 100 yards, allowing qualifying competitions to continue. We apologise for the current condition of the temporary teeing areas. From Monday, these areas will be cut in advance of use to make them more playable. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this disruption. We hope the contractor will complete the work in these areas as soon as possible, and we will share further information about the ordnance survey as it becomes available. Kind regards, NHJ GM W&KGC
