Greens maintenance
Next weeks work explained
Next week we will be undertaking our autumn greens maintenance to get our greens performing well into the winter months and beyond. Monday and tuesday we will be deep spiking the greens down to 8 inches to improve root growth and allow air to get to the profile. This also helps decompact the greens allowing the following process to work as well as possible. After spiking the greens will be rolled and back in play for those first two days not affecting play. After this on wednesday we are having the VGR Topchanger in which we have done for the last 2 years but in the spring. The VGR Topchanger uses high powered water jets to fracture the profile and deliver sand into the fissures that are made. We can introduce around 35 tonne directly into the profile of the greens we little to no surface disruption other than brushing some remaining dressing into the sward. We have chose to do this in the autumn instead of spring so that water has a better route through the profile and create firmer greens in wetter conditions. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be played to temporary greens with all being back in play by the weekend.
