HOLE-IN-ONE FRENZY - I am glad to report that the hole-in-ones keep coming, with two being achieved this month! It started with Andy Irvine on the 1st of October, who pulled out his rescue on the 9th tee in a bounce game, and the rest is history! A great feeling for Andy to add another to his collection.
Only two days later, we hosted our Gents October Medal and it was Gordon Swan's turn to go for glory. Having used a 6-iron on the 9th, Gordon was tempted to go back to his bag and change to a 7i as the wind had strengthened. As he couldn't be bothered to go back to his back and switch clubs, he choked down on a 6i, then threw his arms in the air as he saw his ball roll in! What made it that bit sweeter was making the shot in front of a lifelong friend, Peter Short. Many congratulations to both Andy and Gordon on a fantastic achievement!
WINTER MATS NOW AVAILABLE IN CLUB SHOP - As winter mats will be compulsory when playing off the fairway from November 1st to March 31st, we are selling cost-price fairway mats in the shop. We have Spurk mats available for £19 and a cheaper alternative available for £8. Please feel free to pop in and have a look next time you're up at the club.
2026 AGM DATE AND LOCATION - We have now confirmed that our 2026 AGM will be held at the Lodge St. Margaret on Wednesday 16th of December, starting at 19:00. The Gents' prizegiving will start around 15-20 minutes after the conclusion of the AGM.
GENTS TROPHIES - Those who currently hold one of the Gents trophies from the past year should already have received an email, but in case anyone has been missed, please can you return your trophy to the office ASAP so that we can get them sent away for engraving.
LGA SUMMER LEAGUE FINAL - On Sunday the 4th of October, Harburn hosted the Linlithgowshire summer league final, postponed from the week prior due to rain. After both teams won their pools and semis, we met Bathgate in the final. It was a well-contested match, but unfortunately we were beaten by the better side on the day. Massive congratulations to the team who have done so well over the course of the season, and we wish them the best of luck for the following year!
