Marketing & Membership Meeting Summary - October
Marketing & Membership Meeting - October
Marketing & Membership Committee Update Last week, the Marketing & Membership Committee met to review the latest membership figures, visitor income and proposals to support the future management of golf at Garforth. Membership update The deadline for members to submit their notice of resignation has now passed, with 21 resignations received. This is lower than usual, despite the recent increase in membership fees. Most resignations are due to illness or medical conditions. Visitor golf and revenue Visitor green fee income is practically on a par with last year's record-breaking performance, helping to recover some of the shortfall against the club's budget. Maintaining this level of income remains important, and the committee discussed how we can build on this performance while continuing to protect the experience of our members. Managing visitor bookings and societies The committee discussed a proposal to introduce a clearer framework for managing visitor bookings, societies and representative golf at Garforth. The objective is to identify opportunities to increase visitor revenue without increasing the overall footfall on the course, while ensuring members retain the freedom to play at the times they want. This involves making better use of existing tee-time availability and maximising the value of the visitor golf we accommodate. An update on this will be provided in due course. Junior and intermediate memberships We also discussed a proposal for managing junior and intermediate memberships, with the aim of ensuring a smooth transition from junior golf into full membership. As members progress through these categories, it is important that the structure continues to support their development and enjoyment of the club, while balancing playing opportunities, tee-time availability and the long-term sustainability of membership. The committee will continue to develop these proposals, with the overall aim of supporting the club's financial performance while protecting the experience and interests of our members.
