AGCC, like many other courses, has historically suffered from excessive wear and loss of grass cover around both courses, particularly in areas that are in play.
We are keen to re-establish good grass cover across both courses, as this will significantly improve their appearance and also the ability to play them all year round.
This can only be achieved by proactive management of traffic flows, especially during the winter months. Until the grass cover is fully established, we may continue with some roping of the course, even during the summer months.
We appreciate that the use of ropes and stakes can be unsightly and take away from the aesthetics of what are both beautiful courses. With this in mind, we will always try and use course furniture that is discreet when viewed from a distance but act as a clear guide when approached.
Whilst they should not pose a trip hazard, we would ask that members do not step over them, take care when passing through areas that are roped and notify us immediately of any areas of concern.
We hope that you fully understand the reason for this activity and will assist us in raising the conditioning of the courses to the very best standard that we can achieve.
