County members hit the headlines !!
Donna and Sandra are Scottish Senior Stars
Hopefully you’ll join with me in congratulating some of our members who have achieved great things over the last 2 days.
First of all on Thursday at Cardross GC, the West of Scotland Inter County Foursomes Scratch Prize was won by Alyson McGinnigle (Cowglen) and Carol McNally (Williamwood), and the Handicap section was won by East Renfrewshire pairing of Linda Ellery and Valerie Crawford – in both cases by a margin of 4 strokes !
Tremendous praise is due to Vice-Captain Sandra Littlejohn (Erskine) who has won the Handicap Matchplay in the Scottish Seniors Competition at Edzell. This involved 2 medal rounds followed by 4 matchplay rounds – all in the space of 4 days !
Also well done to Fiona Cameron (Cowglen) who won through to the quarter final stages of the handicap matchplay
In the Championship Liz Stewart (Greenburn) and Donna Jackson (Troon Ladies) won through to the matchplay rounds, where Liz lost in the Quarter-Final by 1 hole to Aileen Baker.
However Donna won through to the Final itself, where she pushed defending Champion and eventual winner Elaine Moffat, to the 17th green.
Elaine admitted it was the hardest game she has ever played. Again this was a case of 6 rounds in 4 days, so both Sandra and Donna have done Renfrewshire proud in both their level of play and their stamina !!
