LOCAL RULES - UPDATE
RETURN TO QUALIFYING GOLF
The Executive Committee met today (20th May) and decided that Qualifying golf will commence from the 21st May. THE LOCAL RULES PUBLISHED ON THE 12TH MAY ARE NO LONGER APPLICABLE.

Please ensure you are fully aware of, and comply with, the rule changes relating to BUNKERS and HOLING OUT.

The wording of the Protocols document relating to Bunkers has also been amended to correspond with the new Local Rules.

An A5 size summary of these rules will be available in the Pro Shop to assist players. Please read them before you start your round.

TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES
(Incorporating England Golf COVID-19 guidance 29 April 2020 and
CONGU decision 11th May 2020)

These Rules enable Qualifying golf to resume and are intended to keep everyone safe so please abide with them.

STAKES - ALL stakes, including out of bounds and penalty area marker posts, anywhere on the course are Immovable Obstructions. Take free relief under Rule 16.1. DO NOT HANDLE THEM.

HOLING OUT: A ball is considered holed if ANY part of the ball is at rest below the surface of the putting green.

FLAGSTICKS: Must be left in the hole at all times. DO NOT HANDLE THEM.

BUNKERS: Preferred lies within 6 inches.
Subject to the following conditions, when your ball lies in a bunker it may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty:
1. You must mark the spot before lifting the ball.
2. The ball must be replaced in the bunker within six inches of and not nearer the hole than its original spot.
3. The area CANNOT be smoothed before placing. Only smooth sand as you leave the bunkers
4. The ball may be replaced only once, and it is in play, even if the ball-marker has not been removed." (Model Local Rule E-3 amended & CONGU Decision 23)

GROUND UNDER REPAIR (G.U.R).
The following Abnormal Course Conditions in the General Area or on Putting Greens are deemed G.U.R., even if not marked with white lines. If your ball lies in such a condition, or if such a condition interferes with your stance or area of intended swing or , in the case of a ball on the putting green , your line of play, you may take free relief under Rules 16.1 b and 16. 1 d, namely :- the nearest point of complete relief (plus a further club length in the General Area ) , not nearer the hole.
- All unfinished drainage/improvement work. Note: Any drain line which has a grass covering is NOT considered G.U.R. and the ball must be played as it lies.
- Damaged areas and areas devoid of grass (Excluding any areas beyond the tree lines of any group of trees) including that caused by heavy equipment or vehicular traffic but NOT by golf trolleys.
Hole 3: The former bunker on the left side of the fairway
Hole 6: The former bunker on the right side of the fairway
Hole 4: The areas of the Left side of the fairway where tree stumps have been removed.
Hole 9. The grass hollow at the rear of the green.
Hole 14. (a) The whole of the mound area between the back tee and fairway. (b) The grass hollow to the left of the green.

In respect of (a) above if your ball lands in this area of GUR you MUST play your second shot from the Drop Zone to the right of the mound by the pathway.

NEW RED PENALTY AREAS FROM WHICH PLAY IS PROHIBITED
On health and safety grounds, to speed up play and, in particular, to protect the numerous newly planted trees, the following areas are deemed to be NO PLAY ZONES WITHIN RED PENALTY AREAS :

Hole 14. (a) The area with young trees to the left of the mound in front of the back tees and (b) The full length of the left-hand mound above the cut line.

Hole 16. The full length of the left-hand mound above the cut line.

It is strongly recommended that you do NOT ENTER these areas
Take relief under Rule 17 for one penalty stroke.

PACE OF PLAY
It is ESSENTIAL that a brisk pace of play is maintained at all times :

YOU MUST NOT DOUBLE BACK TO PLAY AGAIN IF A BALL IS LOST,
OUT OF BOUNDS, UNPLAYABLE, OR IN A PENALTY AREA.

1. THREE MINUTES must be the absolute maximum search time for a lost ball.
2. If there is ANY likelihood that a ball might not be found, then a PROVISIONAL BALL MUST be played
