The Future of Qualifiers and the WHS
Go ahead for Qualifiers
England Golf and CONGU have now given clearance for Qualifying games to be played, under certain proviso, as shown below.
The WHS (World Handicap System) is still due for launch November this year, and so it remains important for players to get as many qualifying rounds in as possible before then, as the WHS will be based on your most recent 8 rounds if possible.
That can also include rounds such as Mulliner & Carter Bowls (now weekly), and General Play Golf where you can alert the person in the Pro shop before you go out that you intend to play a qualifying round.
Temporary Rules:
1. The flag stick must remain in the hole, and a ball that rests in the hole and on the relevant hole insert, is to be considered holed. Should the ball not rest against the stick, but is in the hole, then the ball is still in the hole. Any ball that enters the cup, but then spins out, is not to be counted as having been holed.
2. There will be no local lift and place / preferred lies, at any time.*
3. Any ball landing in a bunker can be played from there, or moved within the bunker, up to a maximum of 6". This is to make some allowance for non-rake activity. No scuffing up or roughing up or smoothing out of any sand is allowed before the placement of the ball.
4. A player must only mark their own card, but should also enter their opponents score as usual, on the left hand columns. There is no requirement for your playing partner to sign your score card.
5. The method of scorecard verification by the club will be decided over the next couple of days. This may involve score entry via the app, emailing in scores, or emailing photographs of the actual scorecard.
Note: These temporary provisions are applicable until further notice.
Competition booking will continue to use the same social booking system as used for the last few weeks (App, Website or Telephone 3 days in advance) and this will continue until further notice, and of course no live scoring will be available.
IMPORTANT
Now it has been deemed safe for social gatherings of no more than 6 people from different households, it remains imperative that before, during and after your round of golf, that social distancing is maintained at all times.
